Last weekend, RaLyn and I took her parents and headed to Yuma, Arizona to visit Lexi and Tyler. Tyler has been working on a Cancer Treatment Facility that is near completion, so we needed to see it before it is finished and they move back to the Phoenix area in a month or two. It was a quick trip and we saw nearly everything you can see in Yuma. Have driven by Yuma many times on our way to San Diego, but have never stopped for more than gas and something to eat.

The Dark Cell was basically solitary confinement. It had a long walkway into a small room that was pitch black. Solid rock, cement, walls that actually kept it kind of cool from the heat outside. One prisoner stayed in there over 100 days.

On Saturday, we took a tour of Yuma's new Cancer Treatment Center. It sits just accross the street from the Hospital. Tyler's company, Okland Construction, has the contract to build it and Tyler was one of two who managed the entire project. We got our own private tour just before the building is scheduled to open later next week. This room is the Radiation treatment room. Can't recall what that huge machine is called, but it pinpoints cancer sites and focuses treatment on them. Behind the wall is the back part of the machine, unseen to patients, but we got a peek below.

Closing out our visit we took a short drive to the outskirts of town to the best Donut shop I've ever been to. No lie! This place is great. Lexi and Tyler have brought us donunts from there before, when they came to visit, and we wanted to get some to eat and bring home. These are seriously good. Not sure why the sign says "Burritos". Why would anyone buy a burrito at a donut store?
